Therapeutic Interventions :
My therapeutic practices are a combination of evidence-based practices and holistic practices that include:
- Interventions are based on the Polyvagal Theory focus on creating safety, supporting social connection, and regulating the autonomic nervous system.
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) works for mental health and addiction by targeting and reprocessing distressing memories, experiences, and associated emotions that contribute to psychological difficulties and addictive behaviors.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapy that was initially developed by Dr. Marsha M. Linehan. Studies on DBT and Substance Use Disorders (SUD) have demonstrated the efficacy of DBT-SUD in reducing substance use, improving treatment retention, and addressing the complex needs of individuals with dual diagnoses. Studies have indicated that DBT can lead to reductions in symptoms of anxiety, depression, and overall psychological distress.
- Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: Incorporates somatic (body-centered) techniques in the treatment of trauma and other mental health disorders. Research has shown that incorporating body-oriented techniques can help regulate the nervous system and promote healing from trauma and addiction. Studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of sensorimotor psychotherapy in reducing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and improving overall mental well-being.
- Emphasize Mindfulness-Based Approaches. These approaches emphasize cultivating present-moment awareness and non-judgmental acceptance of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. Numerous studies have shown the effectiveness of mindfulness-based approaches in reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions.
